Irish Guide Dogs Ballincollig @ MTU

Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind is delighted to accept an anonymous donation of the sponsorship of the Basketball Ireland Super League champions, Ballincollig Basketball. The team, known as Irish Guide Dogs Ballincollig @MTU, will be aiming to defend their title this season in the MTU Arena in Cork.

.

The anonymous donor, a Ballincollig businessman, is passionate about both organisations and was keen to see both develop in their respective areas.

Speaking about the new partnership, the Ballincollig Basketball team captain, Adrian O’Sullivan, said, “Basketball is booming in Ireland with so many European players winning trophies in the NBA and top-class American professionals playing on Irish teams adding to the hype and excitement. We are thrilled to partner with the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind – so many boys and girls in our club see the Guide and Assistance Dogs in training in Ballincollig and now they can support the charity and their basketball club each weekend.”

.

Tim O’Mahony, Chief Executive Officer of Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind is excited for the year ahead. “We are delighted to have this opportunity to not only engage further with the local community on the doorstep of our National Training Centre. We are always looking to raise awareness for our work with new audiences and one person’s generosity allows us to do just that. We wish the team the very best for the season and our Branches, clients, supporters and dogs will be with them all the way.”

Irish Guide Dogs Ballincollig @MTU’s defence of their title begins in the MTU Arena on September 30th with a local derby against Energywise Neptune.
